Konstantin Othmer

Konstantin is the founder and CEO of Speech Ink, a crowd sourced voice to text transcription company. Previously, he was founder and CEO Core Mobility, a private company that worked with device manufacturers and wireless operators to provide visual voicemail, voice SMS, wireless backup, and push-to-talk. Core Mobility solutions shipped on over 40M mobile devices in four countries. During his time at Core Mobility, three companies were spun off into separate entities: Carrier IQ (with tier 1 venture backing), Fonav (acquired by Trolltech), and Speech Ink.

Before co-founding Core Mobility, Konstantin was the founding CEO of ePeople, Inc., a collaborative CRM application software company, that raised over $70M from Redpoint Ventures, Menlo Ventures and Integral Capital. With his first startup, Catapult Entertainment, later acquired by HearMe.com (NASDAQ: HEAR), he served as vice president of product development and customer support. He has also served as a consultant to several private technology companies including WebTV Networks (now part of Microsoft), Immersion (now NASDAQ: IMMR), Cepheid (now NASDAQ: CPHD), and Health Hero Networks (now part of Bosche). Konstantin has been an investor in numerous early stage private companies including Danger (sold to MSFT) and Android (sold to Google). He was founder of VC International, an early stage investment fund turned hedge fund now called Passport Capital which has over $2B under management.

Prior to his involvement with early-stage companies, Konstantin was a Distinguished Engineer at Apple Computer. He has authored three books-two technical books published by Addison Wesley and one book on seven-card stud poker. He has authored over 25 technology patents and has many others pending. Konstantin holds B.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Economics from California Institute of Technology.
